Franklin Central Supervisory Union Board and the three communities created a committee to study a merger under Act 46. The committee approved sending its report to the State Board of Education for its approval.
On January 19, 2016 the State Board of Education unanimously and enthusiastically ruled that “the proposed formation of a new unified union school district by the member districts of the Franklin Central Supervisory Union is in the best interests of the State, the students, and the school districts.” They approved the report of our study committee, which cleared the path to put this item on the ballot for the voters’ consideration.
Members of that committee and of the subcommittee on Communications have made every effort to inform the voters of Fairfield, St. Albans City and St. Albans Town about this unification. They have held four public forums, provided an email address to have your questions answered, and provided literature and a website with information.
This is our choice, as voters. Please vote on Town Meeting Day, March 1.
